Management Consulting

Improving performance, structure, and execution across organisations.

What This Service Is

Management consulting is about improving how a business operates, from structure and processes through to execution and performance.

We help organisations identify inefficiencies, strengthen management systems, and create the conditions for more consistent, effective delivery.

Our Capability

What We Actually Do

  • 01Assess and improve organisational performance
  • 02Strengthen management structures and decision-making
  • 03Improve execution across teams and functions
  • 04Clarify roles, accountability, and priorities
  • 05Support business-wide performance improvement

How We Work

We take a structured, practical approach focused on outcomes.

We work closely with leadership teams to identify what is slowing performance, simplify complexity, and implement changes that lead to measurable improvement.

Application

Where We Apply It

01

Performance Improvement

Identifying and addressing the root causes of underperformance across the organisation.

02

Leadership Alignment

Ensuring leadership teams are structured, aligned, and focused on shared priorities.

03

Organisational Effectiveness

Strengthening how the organisation operates, communicates, and delivers.

04

Business-Wide Execution

Improving consistency and quality of execution across all functions.

Problems Addressed

What This Work Is For

  • 01Decisions take too long because accountability sits in several places at once.
  • 02The management team is busy but unclear about which few things it is collectively responsible for.
  • 03Reporting describes activity rather than telling leadership whether the plan is working.
  • 04Structure has grown around individuals rather than around the work the organisation now does.

Engagement Triggers

When Leaders Get In Touch

01

A management team that has recently changed shape, or grown faster than its operating rhythm.

02

Repeated slippage on commitments without a clear cause.

03

A new owner, investor or board asking for evidence that management can execute.

04

Preparation for a step change in scale, where current ways of working will not hold.

Typical Workstreams

What The Work Involves

  • 01Review of decision rights, governance forums and where decisions genuinely get made.
  • 02Assessment of the management operating rhythm: meetings, reporting, escalation and follow-through.
  • 03Organisation and role clarity work, including accountabilities that overlap or fall between roles.
  • 04Design of a performance framework that leadership can actually run week to week.
  • 05Coaching-in-place: sitting with the team through the first cycles of the new rhythm.

Deliverables

What You Are Left With

  • A decision-rights and accountability map for the leadership layer.
  • A revised management calendar with defined purpose and inputs for each forum.
  • A concise performance reporting pack focused on the questions leadership must answer.
  • An implementation plan for the organisational changes agreed, with sequencing.

Our Approach

How An Engagement Runs

  1. 01

    Observe the current rhythm

We sit in the existing meetings and read the existing packs before proposing anything. How a management team actually works is rarely what the organisation chart implies.

  2. 02

    Locate the friction

We identify where decisions stall, where accountability is ambiguous and where information arrives too late to be useful.

  3. 03

    Redesign the essentials

We change the smallest number of things that will alter behaviour: decision rights, the forum structure, the reporting, and who owns what.

  4. 04

    Run it with the team

We stay through the first cycles so the new rhythm survives the first difficult week, then step back deliberately rather than by attrition.

Around The Table

Who Is Usually Involved

  • Chief executive or managing director
  • Chief operating officer, where operating rhythm and delivery are in scope
  • Human resources or people director, where role and structure changes follow
  • Board or investor representatives seeking assurance on execution capability

Capability

What This Makes Possible

  • 01Decisions made at the right level, with fewer of them escalating by default.
  • 02A management team able to state its collective priorities without consulting a document.
  • 03Reporting that supports a decision rather than summarising the past month.
  • 04Clear accountability for each commitment the team makes.

Questions

Questions We Are Asked

Is this the same as executive coaching?

No. Coaching develops individuals; this work changes how the team decides and operates. The two are complementary, and we will say when what is needed is coaching rather than an engagement of this kind.

Will this result in restructuring or job losses?

Not by default. Some engagements conclude that accountabilities need to move; many conclude that the structure is workable and the rhythm is not. Where role changes are indicated we set them out plainly for leadership to decide.

How disruptive is it for the management team?

The observation phase is deliberately light, we use meetings and material that already exist. The demanding part is the redesign, which requires the leadership team's attention over a short, concentrated period.

How do you tell whether the change has held?

By whether decisions are being made at the intended level, whether commitments are met, and whether the reporting is being used. We agree these tests at the outset so success is not judged retrospectively.

Related Capabilities And Perspectives

Improve operational performance through clearer operating models, cost discipline and better decisions about capacity, delivery and accountability.

  • Strategy Consulting

Build a sharper corporate, business unit or portfolio strategy with senior advisory support and a disciplined path from choice to execution.

  • Mid-Market Companies

Navigate mid-market complexity with senior support across strategy, operations, leadership and transformation, focused on practical decisions and delivery.

  • Insights

Timely perspectives and expert analysis for leaders navigating complexity, growth, transformation and strategic decision-making.

  • The Management Load Audit for Scaling Businesses

Growth adds necessary complexity, but it also creates management work that no longer adds value. A 30-day audit can show leaders where coordination is consuming capacity and what to redesign first.

  • The AI Decision Rights Gap: A Leadership Framework for Faster, Safer Decisions

AI is already influencing management decisions in many businesses. The question is whether leaders have agreed which decisions AI may inform, where humans must decide and who remains accountable.

Concerned that execution is the constraint?

Describe where commitments are slipping. We will tell you whether the issue looks structural, procedural or strategic before proposing anything.
