Services

Operations

Designing and improving the systems, processes, and workflows that keep organisations running effectively.

What This Service Is

Operations is about how the business actually functions day to day.

We help organisations improve operational efficiency, reduce friction, and build processes that support performance, control, and scale.

Our Capability

What We Actually Do

  • 01Review and improve operational workflows
  • 02Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and process gaps
  • 03Design more effective systems and operating rhythms
  • 04Improve coordination across teams and functions
  • 05Build operational foundations that support growth

How We Work

Our approach is practical, detailed, and execution-focused.

We look at how work is currently being done, identify what is creating drag, and implement improvements that make the business run more efficiently and consistently.

Application

Where We Apply It

01

Process Inefficiency

Identifying and resolving the friction points that slow down day-to-day operations.

02

Workflow Redesign

Restructuring how work flows through teams for greater speed and consistency.

03

Internal Coordination

Improving how teams communicate, hand off, and collaborate across functions.

04

Operational Scale-Up

Building the operational infrastructure needed to support business growth.

Problems Addressed

What This Work Is For

  • 01Work moves between teams through undocumented habit, so quality and speed depend on individuals.
  • 02Cost has grown with volume because the operating model was never designed for the current scale.
  • 03Handovers between functions are where delays and errors concentrate.
  • 04Improvement efforts have been attempted before and did not survive the return to business as usual.

Engagement Triggers

When Leaders Get In Touch

01

Margin pressure that cannot be explained by pricing or input costs alone.

02

Growth that has outpaced the processes and systems supporting it.

03

Recurring service failures, backlogs or rework in a critical process.

04

A systems change or integration that requires the underlying process to be defined first.

Typical Workstreams

What The Work Involves

  • 01End-to-end mapping of the processes that carry the most value or the most risk.
  • 02Diagnosis of bottlenecks, rework loops and unnecessary handovers, using the organisation's own data.
  • 03Operating model and workflow redesign, including where work should sit and who owns it.
  • 04Definition of operational measures, thresholds and the routine that reviews them.
  • 05Implementation support through the transition period, when old habits reassert themselves.

Deliverables

What You Are Left With

  • Process maps for the current and intended states, at a level of detail teams can use.
  • A prioritised improvement plan, sequenced by effort against expected effect.
  • Standard operating definitions and ownership for the redesigned workflows.
  • An operational performance framework with the measures leadership will actually review.

Our Approach

How An Engagement Runs

  1. 01

    Follow the work

We trace real cases through the process rather than relying on the documented version, and we do it with the people who run it.

  2. 02

    Quantify the friction

We use existing operational and financial data to establish where time, cost and quality are genuinely lost, so effort is directed at the material issues.

  3. 03

    Redesign around the constraint

The redesign addresses the binding constraint first. Changing everything at once is how previous improvement efforts have usually failed.

  4. 04

    Embed and hand over

New workflows are run alongside existing ones until they are stable, with ownership transferred explicitly rather than assumed.

Around The Table

Who Is Usually Involved

  • Chief operating officer or operations director
  • Chief financial officer, where margin and cost structure are in scope
  • Functional heads owning the processes under review
  • Technology leadership, where systems must change to support the redesign

Capability

What This Makes Possible

  • 01A process that behaves the same way regardless of who is running it that day.
  • 02Fewer handovers, and clear ownership at each remaining one.
  • 03Operational measures that give early warning rather than retrospective explanation.
  • 04An operating base able to absorb the next increment of growth without proportional cost.

Questions

Questions We Are Asked

Do you need a large data set before you can start?

No. We work with what exists. Where operational data is thin, that itself is a finding, and establishing a small number of reliable measures becomes part of the work.

Will this be seen as a cost-cutting exercise?

It depends on the mandate, and we recommend being straightforward with teams about it. Where the objective is capacity or quality rather than cost, saying so plainly is what secures the cooperation the work depends on.

How do you avoid the improvements lapsing afterwards?

By changing the routine as well as the process: defined ownership, a review rhythm that continues after we leave, and measures the team uses for its own management rather than for reporting upward.

Can you work on a single process rather than the whole operation?

Yes, and it is often the better starting point. One process taken end to end usually reveals the patterns that apply elsewhere.

Do you implement new systems as part of this?

We do not sell or implement software. We define what the process requires so that any system decision is made against a clear specification, and we work alongside the implementation partner where one is appointed.

Is a process holding the business back?

Name the process and what it is costing you in time, cost or quality. We will suggest the narrowest piece of work likely to resolve it.
