Sustainability & ESG

Turning regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations into commercial advantage.

What This Service Is

We help organisations embed sustainability into core strategy and operations, turning regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations into commercial advantage.

Our Capability

What We Actually Do

  • 01ESG strategy design and integration
  • 02Sustainability reporting and compliance (e.g. SECR, TCFD, CSRD readiness where relevant)
  • 03Operational sustainability and cost optimisation
  • 04Supply chain and sourcing review
  • 05Investor and stakeholder positioning

How We Work

We take a pragmatic, commercially grounded approach to sustainability.

Our focus is on embedding ESG into existing strategy and operations, not creating parallel reporting structures. We work with leadership teams to ensure sustainability drives value, not just compliance.

Application

Where We Apply It

01

Regulatory Compliance

Meeting evolving sustainability reporting requirements with confidence and clarity.

02

Investor Relations

Strengthening ESG positioning to attract capital and maintain stakeholder trust.

03

Cost Optimisation

Reducing operational costs through sustainable practices and resource efficiency.

04

Resilience

Building a long-term business model that withstands regulatory and market shifts.

Problems Addressed

What This Work Is For

  • 01Reporting obligations are being met without any change to how the business operates.
  • 02Customer, investor or lender questionnaires are answered inconsistently across the organisation.
  • 03Commitments have been made publicly without a delivery plan behind them.
  • 04Sustainability sits with one function and has no route into commercial decisions.

Engagement Triggers

When Leaders Get In Touch

01

A customer, tender or lender requirement that makes ESG a condition of doing business.

02

New or extended reporting obligations affecting the organisation or its group.

03

Investor diligence or a transaction process raising ESG questions.

04

An internal commitment reaching the point where progress must be demonstrated.

Typical Workstreams

What The Work Involves

  • 01Assessment of which environmental, social and governance topics are material to this business and why.
  • 02Review of current reporting obligations and the gap between them and current practice.
  • 03Baseline data work: what is measured, how reliably, and what must be established.
  • 04Integration of material topics into commercial, procurement and operational decisions.
  • 05A prioritised plan with owners, sequencing and the evidence needed to support any public claim.

Deliverables

What You Are Left With

  • A materiality assessment identifying the topics that matter to this business and its stakeholders.
  • A reporting-obligation map with the current gaps stated.
  • A data and evidence plan for the measures the organisation intends to report.
  • A sequenced action plan with owners and the decisions each stage requires.

Our Approach

How An Engagement Runs

  1. 01

    Establish what is material

We narrow the agenda to the topics that genuinely affect this business, its customers and its cost of capital, rather than adopting a generic framework wholesale.

  2. 02

    Separate obligation from ambition

Mandatory reporting, customer requirements and voluntary commitments carry different consequences. Treating them as one agenda is why ESG programmes lose credibility.

  3. 03

    Build the evidence base

We establish what can be measured reliably before anything is claimed publicly. Unsupportable claims are a commercial and legal risk, not a presentational one.

  4. 04

    Connect it to commercial decisions

Material topics are built into procurement, product and operating decisions, so progress follows from ordinary business activity rather than from a parallel programme.

Around The Table

Who Is Usually Involved

  • Chief executive or managing director, where commitments are public
  • Chief financial officer, for reporting, assurance and cost of capital
  • Company secretary, legal or risk leadership, for disclosure obligations
  • Operations and procurement leadership, where the changes will actually land

Capability

What This Makes Possible

  • 01A defined, defensible set of material topics rather than an open-ended agenda.
  • 02Reporting supported by evidence the organisation can stand behind.
  • 03Consistent answers to customer, investor and lender questions.
  • 04Sustainability considerations present in commercial decisions rather than alongside them.

Questions

Questions We Are Asked

Are you a reporting or assurance provider?

No. We help establish what is material, what must be reported and how the underlying data and decisions need to change. Formal assurance is provided by your auditors or a specialist assurance firm.

Which reporting frameworks do you work with?

We work from the obligations that actually apply to the organisation and its group, and from the requirements its customers and funders impose. We map to the relevant framework rather than starting from one.

We are a smaller business. Is this proportionate?

Usually the driver is commercial: customers and lenders asking questions that must be answered consistently. In that case the work is narrow and practical, not a corporate programme.

How do you avoid overstating progress?

By insisting that public claims rest on evidence the organisation holds, and by recommending against claims that cannot be supported, including where a claim has already been made.

  • Operations & Efficiency

Improve operational performance through clearer operating models, cost discipline and better decisions about capacity, delivery and accountability.

  • Mid-Market Companies

  • Insights

  • When Your Customer Becomes Your Regulator

Sustainability requirements often reach smaller suppliers through customers rather than regulators. Without a clear process, each questionnaire consumes senior time and receives more effort than its commercial value warrants. Here is how to triage the request, answer from a standing data pack, price new capability and challenge demands that exceed the recognised CSRD boundary.

  • Out of Scope, Not Off the Hook: Sustainability After the 2026 Reset

This spring, both rulebooks that governed sustainability reporting got shorter. For most UK mid-market companies the formal obligation is now lighter, and the temptation is to stop. That is a mistake. The pressure has not gone, it has moved from the regulator to your customers, lenders and future buyers. Here is how to respond deliberately rather than drift.
